The finalization meeting for the seventh round of planning textbooks for the five-year new form undergraduate pediatrics major (direction) of all national universities, titled "Pediatric Internal Medicine" (7th Edition), was successfully held.

In order to implement the spirit of the "Opinions of the State Council Information Office on Deepening Medical Education Collaboration and Further Promoting the Reform and Development of Medical Education", as well as the requirements of the Ministry of Education in the "Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of High-Quality Undergraduate Education and Comprehensively Improving the Talent Training Capacity" and the seventh round of planning textbooks "Pediatric Internal Medicine" (7th Edition), from May 22nd to 24th, the finalization meeting of the seventh round of planning textbooks for the five-year new form undergraduate pediatrics major (direction) of national higher education institutions, organized by People's Medical Publishing House, and hosted by the Pediatrics Academy of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Medical School and the Affiliated Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, was successfully held in Benxi, Liaoning Province. The chief editor, deputy chief editor, editorial board members, and editorial reviewers of People's Medical Publishing House attended this meeting. Professor Sun Kun, Professor Huang Guoying, and Professor Luo Xiaoping, the chief editor of "Pediatric Internal Medicine" (7th Edition), presided over the meeting.

During the meeting, the editorial board members reported on the compilation situation of the textbooks, jointly reviewed all the manuscripts; discussed the compilation issues, unified the writing style and form, clarified the submission requirements, and determined the submission time; and simultaneously discussed the integration of digital content of the textbooks.

Professor Sun Kun, the chief editor of "Pediatric Internal Medicine" (7th Edition), Professor Huang Guoying, and Professor Luo Xiaoping presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, the editorial board members reported on the compilation situation, jointly reviewed all the manuscripts; discussed the compilation issues, unified the writing style and form, clarified the submission requirements, and determined the submission time; and simultaneously discussed the integration of digital content.

Professor Sun Kun introduced the overall schedule of the finalization meeting and emphasized that this round of textbook revision should further unify the compilation framework, form and style on the basis of the previous round. He also made the following requirements for the compilation content:

1. Each chapter should revolve around the undergraduate teaching syllabus and teaching key points of pediatrics, and ensure that the revision is clear in objectives, concise in content, and highlights the key points.

2. Narration should abandon the common problem of "professional content being too deep and text description being lengthy", and replace it with characteristic pictures, three-line tables, flowcharts, etc., to better present the knowledge content of each chapter.

3. All editors must attach great importance to this round of textbook revision, and the compilation must be personally involved, carefully worded, and repeatedly refined, striving to create a new high-quality national pediatric planning textbook.

Firstly, we would like to express our gratitude to all the editorial committee members for completing the textbook compilation work meticulously. At the same time, we further emphasize the key points of this round of textbook compilation:

1. The textbook content adheres to the principle of "covering all that should be covered", and must revise all errors based on the previous edition of the textbook, while also updating the new theories and knowledge in the textbook.

2. We must attach great importance to the issue of scientificity of the textbook, and resolutely prevent any scientific problems from arising in this round of textbook compilation.

3. Avoid excessive similarity with other pediatric planning textbooks, and should fully reflect the characteristics of this textbook for teaching pediatricology students.

After the meeting, the working group will continue to follow the instructions and requirements of the Ministry of Education as the guide, and complete the compilation work with a high sense of responsibility and mission. Ensure the connection and coherence of the content in each chapter, strictly control the progress of compilation and quality review, ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of the textbook, and strive to create a new edition of pediatric professional textbooks with thoughtfulness, scientificity, advancement, inspiration and applicability, contributing to the cultivation of pediatricology professionals in our country and laying a solid educational foundation for the children's health cause.
