On June 7, 2024, the kick-off meeting for the compiling the Clinical Pediatrics (3rd edition) was held in Changsha, Hunan Province,which was hosted by People's Medical Publishing House and co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University.

Du Xian, the chief editor of People's Medical Publishing House, Qu Chunxiao, the director of the academic editing department for women and children’s health, and over 30 editorial board members and secretaries attended the meeting. The editor in chief of this monograph is Jiang Fan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Sun Kun, President of Xinhua Hospital Affiliated Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Wang Ying, Professor of Shanghai Children's Medical Center Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.chief editor Sun Kun chaired the meeting .

Du Xian firstly expressed warm welcome and thanks on behalf of People's Medical Publishing House to all the editorial board members for attending the meeting. He comprehensively reviewed the publishing history of Clinical Pediatrics, highly affirmed that the compilation of the third edition of Clinical Pediatrics was of great historical significance, and would be an ideological innovation. Jiang Fan reviewed the publishing history and background of Clinical Pediatrics,andemphasized the necessity and significance of compiling the third edition. She introduced the compilation ideas and put forward the compilation requirements. He urged all editorial board members to complete the compilation tasks on time and with high quality, striving to create an excellent academic monograph that pediatricians can "understand", "remember", "apply", and "spread widely".
