Tutor Activity Record of Pediatric Class 2 and Pediatric Class 3
December 6, 2022

On Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 7:00 pm, Ms. Cao Qing from Shanghai Children's Medical Center and Ms. Li Zhiling from Shanghai Children's Hospital co-hosted a class mentoring event for Pediatrics II and Pediatrics III under the theme of medical-industrial crossover.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Cao Qing, the class mentor of Pediatrics II, gave a speech, analyzing the current situation of our medical students entering their junior year, shifting the focus of study from professional disciplines to clinical aspects, putting forward higher requirements on the topic of becoming a good pediatrician, and guiding us to look for the meaning of medical-industrial intersection and the important qualities of pediatricians in the lecture.

In the first lecture, Mr. Hu Renjie researched on the application of 3D printing technology in congenital heart surgery, analyzed the serious hazards of congenital heart disease and the high difficulty of surgery, introduced us to the importance of the application of simulation technology in congenital heart disease, and ensured that each child with congenital heart disease received an individualized and optimal surgical solution, bringing us an exemplary medical-industrial crossover, reflecting the noble humanistic spirit of medicine and the positive and innovative spirit of exploration.

Next, Mr. Hao Sheng from the Department of Renal Rheumatology and Immunology brought us a life-extending tour of hemodialysis, describing in detail the principles and techniques of hemodialysis technology, and using it as a basis to show the specific situation of medical-industrial crossover in the treatment of internal diseases, solving big problems with small inventions in surgery, and taking it as an opportunity to admonish students to be hopeful in order to achieve their goals.

In the third lecture, Ms. Shen Nan analyzed several bottlenecks of current infectious diseases. In response to the problem of limitations of pathogen detection methods, medical-industrial crossover can develop a variety of pathogen molecular diagnosis methods; in the face of serious disorders of intestinal flora in children with severe infections, new therapies can be established and developed, and fecal transplantation can be assisted by medical-industrial crossover, which plans a broader prospect of medical-industrial crossover.

At the end, Ms. Li Zhiling first introduced the importance of science popularization: science and technology innovation and science popularization are the two wings to achieve innovation and development, and it is crucial to put science popularization in the same important position as science and technology innovation, and made a detailed introduction around how to make science popularization works. Finally, Ms. Li Zhiling encouraged the students to actively join the ranks of science popularization and lay the foundation for their future medical career.

The class tutor activity was successfully completed. The students deeply felt the importance of medical-industrial intersection in this lecture, which not only broadened their horizons but also gave more thoughts to their future career planning, and I believe the students can show stronger enthusiasm for their future clinical study through this class tutor activity.
