Right after the traditional Chinese Spring Festival Holiday, Ottawa-Shanghai Joint School of Medicine held its first unit one committee meeting in 2017. This is the last committee meeting before the start of unit 1. Dr. SHEN Linghong, Unit One Leader Assistant and Cardiology Content Expert facilitated the meeting. Dr. SHAO Li, Executive Dean of OSJSM, Director of SJTUSM Academic Affairs Office, Dr. HE Ben, Unit One Leader and Unit One Content Experts from different disciplines attended the meeting.

As a start of the meeting, Dr. SHAO Li talked briefly to the attendees on the OSJSM curriculum, teaching requirements, students’ characteristics as well as the difficulties and challenges thus brought up. Dr. SHAO expressed her hope that the content experts and professors can embrace the new curriculum, make innovations and bring the advantages of OSJSM curriculum into full play. At the same time, our teachers need to make reflections and continuous improvements while teaching,

And then Dr. LI Yi, Program Administrator of OSJSM introduced about the preparation and evaluation requirements, and answered the content experts’ questions. Judging from the questions brought up, all the teachers have put a lot of thoughts and efforts in the new curriculum and put forward many valuable suggestions.

Following that is group preparation for Unit One Cardiology content. Professors are from Renji Cardiology Department and Shanghai Children’s Medical Center Cardiology Department, who had a heated discussion on the preparation, implementation, evaluation, etc. The goal is to equip our students with more medical knowledge and skills.

After nearly 2 hours, the meeting was finished with a happy group picture. And our teachers are ready for the challenges of the new semester.
