Shanghai key laboratory of assisted reproduction and eugenics academic committee meeting was held

The third meeting of the second academic committee of Shanghai key laboratory of assisted reproduction and eugenics was held in the north branch of Renji hospital on January 17. The meeting was presided over by academician He Lin, the director of academic committee member. Aacademician Chen Guoqiang, academician Zhang Yonglian, Professor Wang Yifei, Professor DuanEnkui, Professor Sha Jiahao, Professor Shi Qinghua, Professor Xu Congjian, Professor Kong Xiangyin, Professor Dai Huiliand Professor Chen Zijiang, director of the key laboratory participated in this conference. Professor Chen Zijiangfirst introduced the general situation of the laboratory, the construction work of the last phase, the recent progress of the laboratory, the development planning and operation of the laboratory. Members of the committee fully affirmed the good evaluation results of key laboratories in Shanghai and the development achievements in 2017. Academician Chen Guoqiang first made a speech, affirming the work of the laboratory, hoping to use his own advantages to build an innovation team, actively introduce high-level talents and promote the research direction of the laboratory. Speaking on the 30th anniversary of the birth of China‘s first test-tube baby in 2018, Professor Wang Yifei proposed that Shanghai key laboratory work together to step out of Shanghai characteristics. It is suggested to combine personalized medicine with precision medicine to establish the best clinical path for various reproductive disorders. We should evelop fertility preservation for men and women, explore the long-term safety of reproductive technology and establish a sperm health alliance. Other members have given constructive Suggestions on the introduction of talents and the direction of laboratory research. Academician He Lin summed up his speech and affirmed the excellent work of the laboratory. It is proposed that reproductive medicine should focus on two points: birth health and birth defects, and birth difficulties. Infertility is not a single gene, but a combination of factors.

In the past five years, Shanghai key laboratory of assisted reproduction and eugenics focus on major diseases in the field of reproductive health, clinical problem oriented, establishment of “clinical research -” scientific research platform, to infertility and technology research as the core of eugenic and superior nurture. They integrate the power of the related disciplines and technology platform, combining with reproductive medicine, male sperm bank,prenatal diagnosis center, on assisted reproductive technology, genetics and eugenics, female reproductive disorders as well as male reproductive health research direction of exploring research. In 2017, the number of outpatient visits in the reproductive department of Renji Hospital was 259,520, the number of IVF cycles was 7898, the clinical pregnancy rate of IVF was 56.08%, and the clinical pregnancy rate of FET was 56.67%. The number of clinical IVF cycles completed in 2017 accounts for 20% of the total number of 17 reproductive centers in Shanghai, and the success rate of clinical pregnancy ranks first in the city. In addition, the key laboratory team in January 2018 published clinical research resultsas a common communication unit and common first author in the New England journal of medicine, to provide the basis for the establishment of international guidelines. Key laboratory has 77 various scientific research projects in total, research of more than 64 million yuan, and 234 pieces of related research papers. They have trained more than 60 students, more than 10 postdocs.

It is reported, reproductive medicine center of Renji Hospital was established in 2001, and was the earliest assisted reproductive technology in Shanghai medical units. In 2004, the ministry of health approval certificate issued by the human assisted reproductive technology, it became the first national clinical key specialty in 2010. In 2012 it ranked in Shanghai universities first-class disciplines (class A). In December 2013, Shanghai branch, the national research center for assisted reproduction and eugenics engineering technology, was officially established. In January 2014, Shanghai health and family planning commission approved the establishment of Shanghai assisted reproductive technology training base. In January 2014, It was granted the qualification of “pre-implantation genetic diagnosis technology (PGD)” for the third generation of IVF technology. In 2012, Shanghai key laboratory of assisted reproduction and eugenics was established inRenji Hospital with the approval of Shanghai science and technology commission. They have clinical transformation bases more than 10000 m2 and 1200 m2 basic experiment bases, a full-time for clinicians, researchers and graduate students.All scientific research workers engaged in clinically relevant experimental platform of basic research.
