Shanghai Institute ofPediatrics

ShanghaiInstitute for Pediatric Research was founded in October 1977.Thereare 15 senior research scientists, 35 middle-level and juniormembers working in the institute currently. In the 30 yearssince foundation our institute has completed a lot of researchmissions successfully with the several generations’commitments and devolution. The institute has won about 50million RMB research fund totally and over 50 various ProgressAwards in Science and Technology at the province or ministrylevels.Currently the institute has been equipped withsophisticated facilities, such as inductively coupled plasmamass spectrometry, tandem-mass spectrometry, gaschromatography, HPLC, flow cytometry, atomic absorptioninstrument, indirect calorimeter, real-time PCR instrument, andchromosome karyoptype autoanalyzer.

Prof. Cai graduated from Shanghai Second Medical University in1983, and got Doctor's degree in 2004. As a pediatric surgeon, hecarried out a series of research on nutrition support in severelyill children, and pediatric obesity aswell.
