The university’s Computer Network Center was established in Oct., 1996. It is considered one of the four hubs of the Shanghai Education and Research Network. It is responsible for the operation of the university’s information system. It sets up NOC, NIC, TPO and VOD classroom. Now it offers services such as the Web, E-mail, FTP, VOD and serves as the link between the various SSMU branch and the Internet. During the period of “211 Project” and the ninth 5-year plan, the center developed the OA-MIS and NET-MIS by itself. This has enlarged the capability of the university to provide long-distance medical education and also encourages use of the Internet for information. These resources form the Computer Campus creating a unique resource for the medical university.
