Entrusted by Shanghai Municipal Government, SSMU has been cooperating with Project HOPE, to establish this children’s hospital. This is a state-of-the-art children’s education and research center with international standards. It was opened in June, 1998, JIANG Zhe-min wrote the name for the hospital. The hospital is located in Pudong New District. It covers 60,000 square meters with the building space being 40,000 square meters; the total worth of the property and equipments is over 600 million Yuan(RMB). It has 250 patient-beds. The hospital building was cited as “New China 50-year Shanghai Outstanding Building” by the Shanghai Government and “10-year Pudong Excellent Construction Building” by Pudong New District.
