Shanghai 9th People¡¯s Hospital was founded in 1920,
its predecessor is Battery Hospital and changed to Shanghai
9th People¡¯s Hospital in 1952. It covers 26,757 square meters
with the building space being 54,193 square meters. The hospital
has 757 patient-beds, 28 clinical departments and 12 medical
and technical sections and a staff of 1,800. In 2001, the
hospital treated 853,700 outpatients, 15,516 inpatients and
10,096 operations were performed. It also has 2 municipal
research institutes, 2 national key specialties, 3 key specialties
of municipality, 3 key specialties supported by Shanghai Education
Committee and 3 key specialties leading in medical specialties
in Shanghai.
Stomatology College takes responsibility of stomatology education
for SSMU dental students and professionals all over the country.
The 9th Clinical Medical College is responsible for part of
the clinical education for medical students.
