SSMU
has a group of leading medical experts and scholars famous
at home and abroad. There are 57 professor emeriti in this
university and most of them have already second and third
generation successors. By implementing the ¡°211 Project¡±
to develop century-spanning talents, the university is achieving
great success with a group of emerging young-generation scientists.
SSMU has also employed top scientists from overseas to lead
the research work. Currently SSMU has 5 academicians, 3 chief
scientists of national programs, 4 ¡°Changjiang Project¡±
professors and 1 ¡°Changjiang Project¡± visiting professor.
Ten of the younger staff have been recognized as excellent
scientists. In SSMU, 7 professors obtained funds from the
National Foundation and 3 were recognized as excellent scientists.
Another was recognized as outstanding scientist for his great
contribution and yet another was nominated for recognition
as one of the top 10 female scientists throughout the world.
SSMU staff has won 18 international academic prizes. Currently
SSMU has 154 preceptors for Ph.D. students and 420 tutors
teach Master degree students. Altogether the university has
1,340 senior professors.
